John C. Rowland was admitted to practice law in the State of New York in 2008.
Mr. Rowland attended Boston College, where he attained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 2004. Mr. Rowland attended St. John's University School of Law, in Jamaica, New York, where in attained his Juris Doctor degree in 2007. Mr. Rowland will receive an LLM in Taxation from New York Law School in the spring of 2010.
Mr. Rowland began his legal experience at the Queens County District Attorney's Office as a summer intern while still an undergraduate at Boston College. During law school, he volunteered at a non-profit organization, where he represented children with disabilities and their families in conflicts with their local school districts. Immediately prior to joining George J. Haggerty and Associates, P.C. in 2007, Mr. Rowland worked at a personal injury litigation firm, where he assisted attorneys in trial preparation.
Mr. Rowland represents buyers, sellers and lending institutions in real estate and cooperative transactions. He prepares and reviews Contracts of Sale, examines title reports and conducts closings. Additionally, Mr. Rowland represents lending institutions in the preparation of mortgage assignments and the termination of coop liens.
In the spring of 2009, Mr. Rowland assisted low income and elderly taxpayers in preparing and filing their tax returns to assure they received the full benefit of Government programs such as the Earned Income Credit.
Mr. Rowland is a member of the New York State Bar Association.
